There appears to be a hole in the documentation here … someone forgot to do the bit about installing STS. The download location is provided and the installing is summed up in the words: “After installing and launching, the welcome screen will appear”, followed by a screenshot of the welcome screen. Logically, the IDE that I chose to use would be the one that was already installed on my work laptop and PC, namely, Spring Source Tool Suite.
Although Grails applications can be developed with just the setup that I previously outlined, I am guessing that anyone would prefer to use an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). I took it upon myself to learn at home and installed Grails on my home computer. If you read my first post, you will recall that I was somewhat dropped right in it at work when I had a number of Grails applications to support with no knowledge of the subject.
